In commemoration of the breast cancer awareness month 2020, we organized a visit to the Texas cancer wards.
Our aim of the visit was to;
- commemorate the breast cancer awareness month
- comfort and encourage the cancer worriors and their care givers
-give a donation of fruits and masks
-introduce ECSF to both the hospital and patients for future collaboration
We arrived there at 11:30Am and we're ushered in by the incharge . We had a brief meeting for introduction of both parties and elaborated the aim of our visit.
They informed us that they had 30 patients in the wards and some, their caregivers were present.
They took us around the wards, spoke to them about ECSF and handed out fliers, brochures and masks.
Mr. Mativo gave a brief naration of his story and how he survived cancer, and gave the patients hope and encouragement that cancer is not a death sentence.
After the visitation we spoke to the incharge about them giving us a corner where we can put a desk and keep encouraging the patients and care givers which they said they will look into.
The visitation ended with a photo session of ECSF members present and Christopher omondi(HR), Dr. Joyce Kinyanjui, Peter Wanyonyi (nurse incharge), Waite Wambui (nurse), among others as we Handed over the fruits to the hospital to commemorate our visit.
Over all our objectives for the visitation were all met. The visit was a success.

We organized a cancer awareness camp during the month of October because it is the month marked world wide for "breast cancer awareness."
With partners like nutritionist and volunteers we aimed at creating awareness that;
1. Cancer is not a myth, it's real but it's not a death sentence
2. Importance of early screening
3. Preventive measures
4. Life style changes
5. Let the community know we have an office at Milele Centre,Kitengela
6. Register potential clients to kick off the ECSF programs
7. Mark the breast cancer awareness month
This foundation was established to reinforce the effectiveness of the government in cancer treatment and enhance cancer survivor rates hence our emphasis on nutrition, psycho social support/ counseling therapy, massage/ physiotherapy, training services to care givers and patients.
The services above were emphasized as we gave out flyers and brochures telling the community that we have an office at milele centre kitengela and such services will be available to the community even after the camp is over.
Our nutritionists were also able to give visitors who came to the tent blood pressure and blood sugar tests for free which isn't the norm at hospitals.
This brought many visitors to our tent and we were able to reach out to them about cancer as well.
Our camp brought us links to 7 new cancer worriors and numerous care givers to cancer patients. Our database recorded at least 180 visitors of whom will work with us as our programs are rolled out.
Over all the camp was a great success as all our objectives and expectations were met.
